Prior to teaching, I have worked as a Senior Mentor with NCS. Throughout this period, I delivered a curriculum daily where the focus was placed on the young people developing key ethos such as team-working, trust, responsibility, understanding and empathy.

I worked as a leader’s assistant with the Fifth Putney Brownies where I was responsible for organising games, teaching the history of Brownies with newcomers and helping with the Brownies promise ceremonies. I also assisted with day trips to rock-climbing and golf venues.

I have held QTS for 4 years with experience in both KS1 and KS2 in an inner London school. I am willing to teach KS1 Phonics and Maths, as well as KS2 Maths, English, Science, History and Geography.

What I love about teaching, is the role I have in providing opportunities for children to excel. I am committed to helping children make progress. My zeal for teaching derives from my primary education where I had teachers who inspired me and provided resources to ensure I made progress.

Being a reflective practitioner is a skill I pride myself in, as I am quick to adapt lessons and activities to cater to the different needs of all pupils. Through discipline, quality first teaching and high expectations, every child I teach is catered for and makes progress at their own pace.

“Research has shown that once a person believes in a particular aspect of their identity, they are more likely to act in alignment with that belief.” – James Clear.

Unfortunately, the education system has failed to represent black students in a positive light, by the high rates of exclusion to the low expectations that teachers have of black students. I believe that children excel well when they see themselves represented in their learning. As a black teacher and tutor, I am changing the narrative by showing black students that they can achieve what they set their minds to. I encourage pupils to flourish in their identity, which builds their confidence and promotes a love for learning.

During term time, ideally, I would like to travel to North and East (Hackney) London for tutoring, however, I am willing to travel to other areas in London during holidays.
